Abstract

Farmers’participation is importantly studied to improve farmers’involvement of agricultural program. Objectives of this research were 1) to study about level of farmers’ participation of modern agricultural cluster program, 2) to study about factors which affected farmers’ participation, 3) to study about correlation between factors which affected the participation and level of farmers’participation. This research used quantitative method with technique of survey. The location that was chosen in Tawangsari district. The population of this research was farmers which were incorporated a combined farmers’ group, Tani Mandiri. This research used technique of proportional random sampling and the respondents were taken sixty farmers from each farmers’ group. The data on this research was shown with likert scale and testing the correlation used analysis of rank spearman. The result showed 1) farmers’ participation was included in high category. Planning, monitoring and evaluation and utilization of the result that included in high category, whereas for the implementation included in low category 2) the factors which consisted of education level and group communication’s behavior included in the lowest category. Number of family, cosmopolitan nature, time allocation, intensity of following the program socialization included in low category. Experience of farming business included in high category 3) the correlation test showed the factors which significantly related to farmers’ participation were education level, cosmopolitan nature, group communication’s behavior, and intensity of following the program socialization. The related factors which were not significant with farmers’participation were number of family, experience of farming business, and time allocation.

Abstract

This researchaims to examine the participation of farmers in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency; examine the effect of non-formal education, experience, household income, paddy field area, group dynamics, and farming environment on farmer participation in the implementation of minapadi in Sleman Regency; and examine whether there are differences in farmer participation based on the farming environment in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency. This research uses quantitative methods with survey techniques. The population in this study were farmers in the fish farmers group who received the Minapadi package program from the Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Service of Sleman Regency in Pakem District and Seyegan District. Samples using the Census method with 67 respondents as samples. Data analysis using multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that the participation of farmers in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency was in the moderate category. Participation factors simultaneously had a significant effect on farmer participation in the implementation of minapadi in Sleman Regency. Participation factors partially have a significant effect on farmer participation in the application of labor in the form of non-formal education, household income, and group dynamics while those that have no significant effect are experience, rice field area, and farming environment. There is no difference in farmer participation in implementing minapadi in Sleman Regency between upstream and downstream areas.

Abstract

The success of adopting Tyto alba as rat pest control in Gempol village because of not only positive farmers’perception but also farmers’characteristic. The Positive farmers’perception are linear to farmers’belief in adopting Tyto alba innovation for rat pest control. This study aimed to analyze: 1) farmers’ characteristic, 2) farmers’ perception, and 3) the relationship between farmers’ characteristic and farmers’ perception in adopting Tyto alba Barn owl innovation as rat pest control. This study was quantitative with a survey method and conducted in Gempol Village, Karanganom sub-district, Klaten, Central Java. It was chosen because the first village in Klaten uses Tyto alba as rat pest control. A total of sixty farmers were obtained with purposive random sampling. SPSS Statistics 17.0 with Spearman’s rank correlation was applied to make data analysis. The results showed that: 1) Farmers had a positive attitude, strong motivation, and skillful, also social environment were involved to the innovation of Tyto alba as rat pest control. 2) Farmers had a positive perception of the innovation of Tyto alba as a pest control. 3) There was a significant relationship between farmer attitude, motivation, and social environment to Tyto alba innovation as rat pest control. There wasn’t a significant relationship between farmer experience and perception in adopting Tyto alba as rat pest control.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to know the farmers’ internal factors related to farmer participation in activities to increase vegetable production and medicinal plants through various chili areas, analyze the level of farmer participation in activities to increase vegetable production and medicinal plants through various chili areas, and analyzing the relationship of farmers’ internal factors with the level of farmer participation in activities to increase vegetable production and medicinal plants through various chili areas. This research uses quantitative  methods  with  survey  techniques.  The research location was determined intentionally, namely Kismantoro Subdistrict, with the consideration that the sub-district was the district with the largest land area and production yield in Wonogiri Regency. The research population this time is farmers who are members of farmer groups that receive activities namely 197 farmers. The sampling method was carried out proportionally random sampling, with a sample size of 60 farmers. To test the relationship, rank spearman analysis was used with SPSS version 20. The results showed that the majority of farmers were of productive age, the most formal farmers were elementary school graduates, farmers in the low category, the largest farmer area was 0.51-0, 75 ha, the level of farmer risk taking in the high category, the activeness of farmer membership in the medium category. The level of farmer participation at the planning stage and at the implementation stage is classified as a moderate category, while the level of farmer participation at the utilization stage of the results is classified as high. The internal factors of the farmer who have a significant relationship with the level of farmer participation are age, non-formal education, risk-taking level and liveliness of farmer membership, while the farmers’ internal factors that have no relation to farmer participation level are formal education and land tenure.

Abstract

:  Farmers’ participation  shows  farmers’ involvement  and  partnership  in  agriculturewhich  include activities of planning, implementing, and utilizing the results of a development program done by local communities. Objectivesof this research were analysing: (1) farmers’ participation in program of Organic Fertilizer Processor Unit or Unit Pengolah Pupuk Organik (UPPO); (2) age, individual’s experience, non-formal education, information access, and farmers’ risk taking in UPPO; and (3) correlation between age, individual’s experience, non-formal education, information access, and farmers’risk taking with participation in UPPO. Basic method of the research was quantitative method with survey technique. Area determination was intentionally decided, the areas that ran UPPO in six villages from five sub-districts, consisting of Pereng and Pendem Villages (Mojogedang Sub-district); Seloromo Village (Jenawi Sub-district), Ngeblak Village (Tawangmangu Sub-district); Kerjo Village (Kerjo Sub- district); Ngadiluwih Village (Matesih Sub-district) in Karanganyar Regency. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling that involved sixty respondents. The analysis data used correlation test of Rank Spearman (r ) with program of IBM SPSS 22.0.  The research result showed that: (1) farmers’ participation in UPPO were included as high category. (2) age included as productive category, individual’s experience included as high category, non-formal education as high category, information access in low category, risk taking included as prepared category. (3) there was significant correlation between individual’s experience, information access, and taking farmers’ risk with farmers’ participation in UPPO, however there was not significant correlation between farmers’age and non-formal education with farmers’participation in UPPO.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the responses of farmers to the AUTP program; to analyze the factors affecting farmers’ responses to the AUTP program; and to analyze the influence of factors affecting responses to farmers’responses in the AUTP program. This research was conducted in Adimulyo Subdistrict, Kebumen Regency with the consideration of Adimuluyo Subdistrict is one of the regions that has implemented the AUTP program. This research used quantitative methods and survey technique. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling. The data sources used were primary and secondary data with methods of observation, interviews, documentation and recording. The analysis method used was multiple linear regression. The results showed that the farmers’ responses to the program from the aspects of understanding, acceptance and implementation of the majority of farmers’responses were in the category of highly disagree with the program. Factors that can influence the responses of the majority were in the very low category, such as formal education, non-formal education, personal experience of rice farming, cultivated land area. Only the age factor was middle-aged, income was low, and mass media access was never. There was a significant influence between the independent variables to the dependent variable in the AUTP program. Independent variables that significantly affected were age (X ), non- formal education (X ), income (X ), personal experience of rice farming (X ), cultivated land area (X ) and mass access (X ). Other variable that didn’t significantly affected the responses of farmers in the AUTP program was formal education (X ).

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to assess, the perception of farmers on the program for demonstration area of healthy rice cultivation, examine the characteristics of the factors forming the perception of farmers participating in the program for demonstration area of healthy rice cultivation, analyze of the correlation between the factors forming perceptions farmers to demonstration healthy rice cultivation area program. The study used the method of descriptive by using survey techniques. The location was in Polokarto, Sukoharjo, taking 2 villages implementing the program. The population was the member farmers of the Pilangrejo farmer group and the Kenteng Farmer Group. The study used a proportional random sampling technique and respondents were taken as many as 60 farmers. The data in this study were presented with a Likert scale and to test the correlation used Spearman rank analysis and t-test. The results showed that, the factors forming perceptions were age, formal education, non-formal education, land area, income, experience, and motivation,  Farmers’ perceptions of the understanding, goals, benefits, and activities contained in the program demonstration area of healthy rice crop cultivation were good, There was a significant correlation between income and experience of farmers to the program demonstration area of healthy rice cultivation. Whereas age, formal education, non-formal education, land area, and motivation were not significantly related to farmers’ perceptions of the program for the cultivation of healthy rice.

Abstract

The low number of youth of farmers in the agricultural sector is one of the main problems in agriculture. The image of the agricultural sector that is less prestigious and less able to provide adequate compensation is the cause of the decline in the interest of young workers in the agricultural sector. Farmer regeneration can be implemented through the interest of youth in groups of farmers. which to develop creativity, productivity, innovation, empowerment, awareness, and independence. This study aims to determine the level of interest and factors that influence the interest of rural youth in groups in the Bahorok District, Langkat Regency, North of Sumatra Province. This study uses the method of explanatory saturation of samples with a quantitative approach, where as many as 37 of respondents (rural youth farmers). Data collection methods using observations, questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis uses a Likert scale and data processing uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study concluded that the interpretation of the level of interest of rural youth in groups of 77.65% with a high category. Simultaneously farm income, family environment, community environment, social status and the role of extension workers simultaneously influence the interest of rural youth in farmer groups. Partially, farm income and family environment significantly influence the interests of youth while the family environment, social status and the role of extension workers do not affect the interests of rural youth in groups of farmers.
